"They See Your Photos" is a privacy research experiment that uses generative AI to describe uploaded images. We do not retain any information collected through this App beyond the duration necessary for processing. However, third parties such as Google, OpenStreetMap (OSM), Sentry, and PostHog may collect and retain data as per their respective privacy policies.

2. Data Collection and Usage

Information Collected:

• Uploaded Images: Users may upload images to the App to receive descriptions generated by AI. These images are processed and immediately discarded after use.
• Location Metadata: The App may access location metadata (EXIF data) embedded in uploaded images to retrieve address information via OpenStreetMap.
• Location Data: Location data may be sent to Google Maps to generate an embedded map image based on the photo's location.

Usage of Information:

• Uploaded images are relayed to Google through Cloudflare for AI processing and are immediately discarded after processing. We do not retain any of this information.

• PostHog is used for web and product analytics to help us improve user experience. Please review PostHog's Privacy Policy for more information on their data handling practices.

3. Data Sharing

• Uploaded images are sent to Google for processing and are not stored or shared beyond the immediate purpose of generating descriptions.
• All data transmissions occur over encrypted TLS connections to ensure security and integrity between the user, our web server, and third-party services.
• Location metadata lookups are powered by OpenStreetMap.
• Sentry may log anonymized error data to improve app performance, though no identifiable information is stored long-term.
• PostHog may collect anonymized usage data for analytics purposes, which helps us improve the user experience. This data does not include any uploaded images or sensitive information.

4. User Rights

Since we do not store any data from the App, there are no provisions for accessing, correcting, or deleting data from our end. However, if third parties such as Google, OpenStreetMap, Sentry, or PostHog retain data, users may have rights regarding that data under their respective privacy policies. You can contact these third-party services directly for more information on how to manage, access, or request deletion of any data they may retain. Users can withdraw their consent to use the App at any time by ceasing to use it.

5. Data Security

• All data transmissions are encrypted using TLS to ensure the security and integrity of data between the user, our web server, and third-party services.
• We do not store any uploaded images or related data on our servers.

• We do not retain any data from the App.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the App.

8. Compliance

• Google’s generative AI services may have regional restrictions due to regulatory requirements, which may affect the functionality of the App in certain regions.

9. Cookies

• We do not place any cookies on your device.
• Cookies may be placed by OpenStreetMap, Google, or other third-party services during service requests. These cookies are subject to their privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy as necessary to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.
